On 6th August 2024, USAF 3rd Wing based at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Alaska, deployed twelve F-22A Raptor aircraft to the Middle East.
The first leg of their journey involved a two night lay-over at RAF Lakenheath & tanker support was provided by six CONUS based KC-46A aircraft, all of which landed at nearby RAF Mildenhall. Photos of some of the Raptors arriving at Lakenheath just before sunset on 6th August, can be seen in the gallery below – we apologise that daylight was almost gone before the final four aircraft arrived (not included below), indeed number 8 in the landing order (07-0143) was not one of our best shots taken.
