ANATOLIAN EAGLE 2014\/2<\/h1>\n

Thanks to the Turkish Air Force and their personnel who arranged an excellent programme over three days in June, we are able to present a photographic report on exercise Anatolian Eagle 2014\/2 that was held at Konya AFB in Turkey. The access given to runway, taxiway and flight lines, was first class. Thanks are also due to 4Aviation whose organisation made all of this possible.<\/p>\n

History<\/h1>\n

Anatolian Eagle sprang from a visit to a Red Flag exercise at Nellis AFB by TAF observers in 1983 & this was followed by participation in a similar exercise in 1997 by six Turkish F-16s. The first exercise, Anatolian Eagle 01 was held by TAF Operations Command in June 2001. Over the ensuing years, this has progressed to three exercises per year with various nations taking part. The exercise is very similar to Red Flag with two opposing forces. The Blue team supported by AWACS aircraft, attacks tactical and strategic targets in Red Land during Combined Air Operations while the Red Team defend their territory, using land based radar and ground launched missiles. There is a full debriefing after each launch has returned safely to base.<\/p>\n

Participating Aircraft<\/h1>\n

The TAF was represented by F-16 , F-4-2020 and Wedgetail AWACS aircraft .<\/p>\n

The RAF was present with 6 x Typhoons<\/p>\n

The Spanish Airforce had 6 x EF2000 and 6 x EF-18 aircraft<\/p>\n

The Royal Jordanian Air Force brought 3 x F-16AM\/BM aircraft<\/p>\n

The Qatari Air Force brought 4 x Mirage 2000-5<\/p>\n

NATO supplied AWACS aircraft<\/p>\n
